Welfare Index from Population Census 2023

The Welfare Index computed using the Pakistan Population Census 2023 provides a composite measure of household and community well-being across the country. It is based on 9 key indicators, each reflecting a critical dimension of welfare and scaled out of 100 for standardized comparison. These indicators include access to education, electricity, housing quality, sanitation etc.

By assigning equal weight to each of the 9 indicators, the index offers a score out of 100, reflecting the overall welfare level of a region or population group. This approach enables data-driven comparisons across districts, provinces, and urban-rural divides, offering policymakers actionable insights for targeted development.
