Twenty years of Pakistan, in one dashboard.
At Gallup Pakistan, we just finished building something we’ve wanted to build for a long time: a single interactive dashboard tracking Pakistan’s welfare indicators from 2004 to 2025 — drawing on PSLM, PDHS, LFS, HIES, FIES and more, stitched into one comparable timeline.
A few numbers that stood out:
Literacy (age 10+): 51.4% → 62.7% — up 11.3 percentage points
Female literacy: 37.5% → 53.7% — up 16.2 points, the fastest-moving indicator in the dataset
Facility-based births: 25.9% → 80.8% — up 54.9 points, the single biggest shift in the entire dashboard
BCG immunisation coverage: 54.5% → 94.8% — up 40.3 points
Median monthly earnings: PKR 3,500 → PKR 25,000 (nominal)
Internet access: 67.5% of households — a category that didn’t exist in the 2004 questionnaire
Food insecurity (2025, FIES): 36% of households worried about having enough to eat
Beyond the headline numbers, the dashboard goes deep: population and household structure, education and out-of-school children, labour force participation and job quality, maternal and child health, housing and sanitation, household assets, women and gender indicators, unpaid work across 14 categories, district-level income projections, and a question-by-question explorer across every survey wave — filterable by province, urban/rural location, and gender.
It’s a reminder of how much changes in twenty years — and how much a consistent, well-documented survey infrastructure matters for actually being able to see that change.
