Women consistently account for more than 50% of Pakistan’s master’s degree graduates
Data from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) highlights three findings:
1/ Pakistan produces close to 100,000 master’s degree graduates annually. Are we producing enough jobs for these ? I doubt that?
2/ The number declined in 2024–25, reaching its lowest level in the past seven to eight years covered by the data. Tells us about possible market correction?
3/ Women outnumber men among master’s degree graduates in every year of the period.
These figures highlight women’s sustained contribution to higher education in Pakistan.
How effectively are we translating this pool of qualified women into employment, research and leadership opportunities?
