Collapse of PIA in Numbers

Aviation data can be very informative to track what really happened.

Here Gallup Pakistan Digital Analytics aviation dashboard shows how PIA market share as well as total passengers it carried collapsed.

On domestic routes the competition from domestic airlines broke into its share. The state owned enterprise could not compete.

On the international front the Open Skies policy made sure that international carriers took the more lucrative sectors for example the gulf including UAE and Saudi market .

Can the newly sold PIA revive its share ? I would think that this would be very complex and unless there is some major investment (more than what has gone to other Pakistani private carriers), the chances are going to be really poor.
