The North – South Disparity in Pakistan.
The North – South disparity in Pakistan is apparent . Population Council DVIP mapping of most vulnerable and most prosperous districts in the country shows how North in general and also within Punjab is significantly more prosperous than the South.
Within Punjab , the GT road belt is significantly more prosperous than rest of Punjab
Sindh is more vulnerable than Punjab and also more vulnerable than many districts of KP (adjoining Punjab)
Balochistan is now a category of its own in terms of being vulnerable and impoverished.
In our general conversation about how Pakistan has been left behind in development , we forget the islands of prosperity (North) and mainlands of destitution (the rest).
Its painful that despite this knowledge most of the investment still goes to North , not just from government but even from donors who sponsor such research.
Data is useful only when its put in to action (praxis)
