Overview

The 7th Agricultural Census of Pakistan provides the most recent and detailed mapping of the country’s agricultural structure. It captures land use, farm sizes, irrigation, cropping patterns, livestock, and farm tenure, with data available at both district and national levels.

What It Covers

Cultivated Area: Classified by mode of irrigation and size of farm.

Fodder Area: Distribution by size of farm.

Major Crops Share: Wheat, rice, maize, cotton, sugarcane, fodder, and other crops as a share of total cropped area.

Livestock Population: Number of animals by province/division.

Farms: Number and area of farms by different size categories.

Household Characteristics: Gender of agricultural household head.

Tenure System: Classification into owner, tenant, and owner-cum-tenant farms.

Structure of Data

The census provides district-level breakdowns for cultivated land, irrigation, livestock, and crop shares, while also presenting national-level summaries for broader indicators such as tenure, farm sizes, and gender of household heads.
