Data suggests close to 115,000 Pakistan immigrated to Canada. Close to 10,000 persons per year.

Last year saw a close to 20% drop and 2026 will perhaps end on a further drop (lowest in a decade)

This is the so called Brain Drain as most of those heading represent either capital (business route) or white collar workers (Worker program)

These are also people whose exit creates limited remittance dividend. Most eventually take their families , come from more urban backgrounds and therefore have limited need to send back.

As globalization as we have know for three decades winds down what would be the fate of such migration channels? What would be the impact on countries like Pakistan and specifically highly trained individuals who had come to expect migration as a sure shot route to earning better.

All these are questions we ought to be debating .
