Number of businesses can predict economic activity in a district !

Gallup Pakistan Digital Analytics has made a dashboard using latest Economic Census

Below map shows concentration of those businesses across the province

One can see few districts stand out starting from Lahore , Faisalabad , Gujranwala , Rawalpindi (the GT road districts). Beyond that there are few to name : Multan and Rahimyar Khan another one

Unlocking Pakistan’s economic potential is developing the ‘other’ districts business potential. Agglomeration is good and we already have that in the form of the GT belt road districts as almost one unit connected with motorways (M2 and couple others – Sialkot and now another set running up to Rawalpindi). The unlocking of the potential of the left out districts is crucial from raising the economic wellbeing of the wider Punjab province.

We need a new economic narrative and paradigm in order to spread the economic benefits of growth !
